Funerals are typically held shortly after a person's passing and involve the presence of the body. These ceremonies often include a burial or cremation.
Memorial or celebration of life services are held at a later date and do not have the body present. Instead they focus on celebrating the life and memories of the departed.
I also conduct the scattering of ashes ceremonies, providing a repsectful and personalised way to say goodbye. Furthermore, I offer funeral pre-planning for those who wish to proactively plan their end of life ceremony with me in advance. Please message me for more details.
Funeral Services
Saying goodbye to a loved one is a deeply personal and emotional experience. I believe that every life is unique and deserves to be honoured in a way that reflects the individual's wishes, beliefs and traditions.
With care, empathy and attention detail, I work to create a bespoke funeral ceremony that captures the spirit of your loved one. I take time to understand your preferences and any specific requests you may have. My goal is to create a ceremony that not only celebrates the life lived, but also provides comfort and closure for those left behind.
Through face-to-face meetings, I will take time to listen to stories, memories and anecdotes about your loved one. I'll then create a ceremony that brings together these elements, producing a tribute that is authentic and meaningful.
Elements of the service can include a eulogy or tribute, readings and poems, music, moments or silence or reflection, sharing memories, rituals or traditions that hold significance for the family, visual displays of photos or videos.
My commitment is to provide you with a compassionate and professional service; creating and delivering a ceremony that celebrates the unique journey of your loved one and provides solace and support to all who attend.

Memorial or Celebration of Life Services
Whilst both funeral services, memorial or celebration of life services share similar elements, there are notable differences between the two. Funeral services are typically held at a cemetery or crematorium, whereas memorials and celebrations of life offer more flexibility in terms of the venue. These services can be held at a location of your choice, whether it be indoors or outdoors, providing a more personalised experience.
Traditionally, memorial services are a more formal and sombre event, where family and friends come and pay their respects. The focus is on reflecting on the life of the deceased and offering support for the grieving family.
A celebration of life is typically a more joyful and uplifting event, which celebrates the life and legacy of the person who has passed. It can be a more relaxed and informal gathering, often filled with stories, laughter, and shared experiences.
Although both types of service serve the purpose of honouring a love one, a memorial service tends to be more traditional and formal, whilst a celebration of life is a more personalised and lively tribute. Of course, there is nothing stopping you having a mix of both.
